Godrej Appliances’ Mohali manufacturing unit awarded the “GREENPRENEUR 2021” certification by FICCI- FLO

~The brand received this prestigious recognition for its green efforts towards better waste management.

Chandigarh, August 2021: Godrej & Boyce, the flagship company of the Godrej Group, shared that its business Godrej Appliances, which is one of India's leading players in the home appliances segment, received the prestigious “GREENPRENEUR 2021” certification by FICCI – FLO in the category of ‘Waste and Material Productivity’. This certification, awarded to Godrej Appliances’ manufacturing unit based in Mohali, Punjab, recognizes its efforts in building an efficient waste and material management system.

Commenting on the occasion, Mrugesh Gandhi, Head – Mohali Plant, Godrej Appliances said, “We are ecstatic to have received this certification from such a distinguished association as FICCI - FLO. The brand was conferred in a virtual ceremony, in the presence of Shri Alok Shekhar, Principal Secretary, Department of Industries and Commerce (Punjab), Shri Rajat Aggarwal, CEO Invest Punjab and Ms. Manjot Dhillon, Chairperson, FICCI FLO - Amritsar.

Some of the salient features that contributed towards making the Mohali unit certified are:
• Mohali plant's specific carbon emissions have been reduced by 27.72%.
• The plant is water positive and has no discharge. The facility has reduced its water use by 41.79 % in the last five years, and it recharges more than it withdraws at a ratio of 1:2.73.
• By increasing recycled content for raw materials such as steel, plastics, glass, cast iron, aluminium, rubber, copper, and paper, the plant achieved a 30 % recycled content rate.
• All non-hazardous trash is 100% recycled, and non-hazardous waste generation has dropped by 31.8 % in the past five years.
• In addition, the plant has attained “zero waste to landfill” status and uses renewable energy to the tune of 40%.
