How to add a new device?

Download the Godrej Spotlight mobile app from Google Play or Apple stores. Sign up and create your login to add spotlight camera.

    STEP 1:
  • Please ensure the Wi-Fi is switched on and in range
  • Ensure the existing Wi-Fi is connected to your smart phone
  • Check all voice prompts/acknowledgments by camera

    STEP 2:
  • Log into the Spotlight app
  • Click on “+” at the top-right corner
  • Select Scan QR (Recommended)
  • Scan QR Code at the bottom of Spotlight device
  • Follow the directions as per prompts
  • The app will then prompt with the name of the Mobile Wi-Fi connection. Enter the Wi-Fi password.
  • Before tapping next, maintain a distance of 30 cm between your Mobile, Wi-Fi Router and Spotlight camera.

    STEP 3:
  • After entering router details, click “Press to connect”. Keep phone sound on and place within 30 cm from camera. Wi-Fi details are transferred to camera via Sonic (sound wave) technology.
  • Follow prompts on app screen and voice prompts by camera. After successful connection, camera will prompt with “Welcome to use Spotlight Wi-Fi camera”

Congratulations, now you can use your new spotlight Camera.

Why am I seeing a ‘Failed to add device’ message prompt?

Please troubleshoot across the following areas to solve this problem.

    Manual add failure:
  • Check Phone Sound: Ensure phone sound is on so the device is able to detect the sound of the Wi-Fi pairing. The binding will fail in case phone is on mute.
  • Check Wi-Fi Name & password: Doublecheck if you have entered the correct UDID & password.

    Sonic configuration failure:
  • Check if Wi-Fi Password is entered correctly.
  • Check phone sound: If the phone is on silent mode after you enter the Wi-Fi password, the device is unable to detect the sound wave of the pairing.
  • Once the correct Wi-Fi password is entered, the phone signals a sound wave. Simultaneously, the app screen prompts, “Connection has been successfully heard.” Click on the same, if you hear this prompt from the camera. The device and the cloud will take about 90 seconds to sync. If the binding fails, repeat the above procedure.

Can I use Spotlight cameras without an internet connection? i.e using the camera hotspot?

Are Spotlight camera’s weatherproof and IP rated?

What is the recommended bandwidth for Spotlight cameras to function properly?

The recommended upload speed is at least 2 Mbps per Spotlight camera in your home. The Spotlight app automatically adjusts video quality to ensure smooth streaming. You can also manually adjust the video quality to use less bandwidth.

Can I point a Spotlight camera out a window?

It isn’t recommended to use a Spotlight camera at a window to track things outside your home. Your view may be obstructed by reflections/glare caused by the window glass. Also, your view is limited by the size and location of the window.

Can I use a power bank to charge the camera?

Yes, a power bank from a reputed manufacturer will do the job, but it’s always best to use the adapter provided with the camera. Use a power bank as an emergency option only. Ensure the power output matches camera specifications. i.e. 5V/1.5Amp (Spotlight P.T.) & 5V/1Amp (Spotlight Fixed).

Can Spotlight cameras be mounted outdoors?

In such cases, create a guest network in the 2.4Ghz section. Then connect your camera to your dual band router via the same guest network. While configuring the password, ensure no special characters or spaces are used. Lastly, the security level of the password should be set to WPA instead of WPA2.

How do I view Spotlight footage on a computer?

Spotlight footage can be viewed via a web browser. Visit www.godrejspotlight.com and log in with the same account details. We recommend Chrome for the best browsing experience.

How many cameras can I add to an account?

Yes, the Auto-tracking feature is available only on the Spotlight P.T. model. Once activated, the camera tracks a moving object within its viewing range.

Note: The Spotlight Fixed model doesn’t have this feature.

How do I activate the auto-tracking feature for Spotlight P.T?

  • elect the respective camera and go to “Settings”
  • Select “Motion Detection Configuration”
  • Activate “Auto Tracking” setting

Once activated, the camera will automatically track moving objects, whenever movement is detected.

How can I record 24x7 on Spotlight camera?

Spotlight Camera supports 24x7 recording on SD card only.

    Please follow the steps below:
  • On the Camera or Live View page, tap “Manage Recordings”
  • Toggle on to enable the Recording Schedule function and set to Continuous Recording or 24-Hour Recording, as needed.

Once set, you can view all recordings on the Live View page, Just tap “Playback” and drag the timeline to view what you wish, whenever and wherever you are.

What does Security Mode do?

Security Mode, as the name suggests, is a high-security setting. When enabled, it will Disable Sleep, Enable Motion Detection and Recordings on all devices currently on your account; i.e. owned by you. (Cameras shared by other accounts will be unaffected).

Use this setting to detect and receive alerts on any suspicious movement. You can still override individual camera settings like Enable Sleep mode and Mute Motion Notifications after Sleep Mode has been activated.

Can I do 24*7 recording over cloud?

No, you can record only motion-based activity via the cloud.

What is the maximum viewing distance in night mode?

    In night mode,
  • Spotlight P.T. cameras have a maximum range of up to 10 metres.
  • Spotlight Fixed cameras have a maximum range of up to 5 metres.

How do I share my camera with friends or family?

Method 1:

On the app’s pull-up menu, tap the “Share” option. Select “Create New share” and follow the steps below:

  • Select the cameras which need to be shared
  • Select the permissions that will allow for shared views
  • Configure the sharing duration as per your need
  • Tag/Label sharing persons for quick identification
  • Click on the “Share” option at the bottom to generate a link & OTP. Pass on the same with friend/family, and enjoy!

Method 2:

On the home screen, select the camera you wish to share. This will activate the Live View page of the respective camera with various function options. Select the “Share” option and click “New Share”. Then follow the steps below:

  • Select cameras which needs to be shared
  • Select the permissions that will allow for shared views

How do I record a Live feed from my Camera?

  • The respective feed will now be available for live viewing
  • Click the “Start Recording” option to record footage of 5min duration per clip
  • Once captured, click the “Stop Recording” button

What are the features of Spotlight Cloud Service?

How do I reset my Spotlight Camera?

  • Delete the camera from your Spotlight user account. On the mobile app, go to “Settings” and select “Delete Camera”.
  • Next, ensure the camera is switched on. Press and hold the Reset button (about 5sec), until you hear the “Reset Success” voice prompt.

What should I do if the camera stops working after I change the Wi-Fi name/password or switch to a new router?

The camera cannot automatically recognize a new Wi-Fi name or password. So any changes will disconnect it from the router. You will need to reset and reconfigure the camera accordingly.

If a new router shares the same 2.4G Wi-Fi name, password and security mode as your old router, the camera should be able connected to it automatically. If not, please reset and reconfigure the same.

Why am I not receiving any motion alerts?

Your Motion Detection Notifications may be muted. You can check this in the app settings. Go to Motion Detection Configuration and ensure “Mute Notifications” is disabled.

If this doesn’t help, check if you’ve allowed push notifications from the Spotlight app on your mobile phone. You can do so in the settings section on your phone.

I’m getting too many/too little motion alerts. Can I control the motion sensitivity on my Spotlight camera?

Your Spotlight camera sends mobile notifications whenever a movement is detected. You can fine-tune the frequency of alerts by adjusting the camera’s Motion Sensitivity. Just go to Camera Settings>Motion Detection Configuration and adjust the slider to your situation. This may take a little trial and testing.

The memory card is installed, but video recording still doesn’t work.

The SD card needs to be initialised before use. Check the SD card initialisation status under camera settings on the app. If required, the app will prompt you to “Initialise SD Card”. Follow the onscreen instructions to complete the process.

If this doesn’t help, check if the memory card is readable by plugging it into a laptop. If not readable, try a new SD card.

DON’T FORGET! Before formatting, always check the SD card for any existing recordings. We recommend backing up data via the “Video Recording” option on the app. You can also copy the same onto your laptop/desktop

What should I do if the SD card doesn’t work properly on my camera?

If the SD card is recognized by your computer, try to format it there. Then try it on your Sporlight camera.

If the SD card is not recognized by the computer either or proves to be a fake/corrupt, it may be damaged. It’s time for a new one.

What kind of SD card does the Spotlight camera support?

The Spotlight camera supports micro-SD cards with up to 128GB capacity. Before use, please format the SD card via the Spotlight App. A 32GB SD card can be used to record 24-hour-long videos for about 4-5 days in a row.

Recommended SD card - “Mention Specs” is recommended.

Why can’t I see any recordings on the SD card on the playback screen?

This could be due to a couple of reasons:

  • Check if the SD card is properly inserted and readable.
  • Check If the camera was in Sleep Mode. No recordings occur during Sleep Mode.

If the issue isn’t solved, initialize/format the memory card via the camera settings, and try again. Remember to back up existing videos, before formatting the SD card.

Why is the camera offline?

Please check for the following:

  • Ensure the device is powered on.
  • Check if your router has a quality internet connection. Test the internet speed via your mobile.
  • If your device goes offline frequently, your camera may be receiving a weak network signal. Relocate the camera to ensure it’s within the router’s Wi-Fi range. Restart the camera via the Power On switch. Check the voice prompts for any error messages.
  • If you recently modified the Wi-Fi name/password, you’ll need to reconfigure the camera accordingly via the app’s settings. Please see above for step-wise instructions.
  • If the above doesn’t work, delete the camera from your account. Then reset it using Reset switch. Re-add the camera using “Add device” in the app and check.

What do I do if firmware update of my Spotlight Camera fails?

Normally, the new firmware will include more features or improve the performance of the device. Here are some suggestions to troubleshoot an update failure:

Step 1. Reboot the Spotlight camera

Step 2. Move the camera closer to the Wi-Fi router and ensure you have a stable and fast internet connection

Can I delete recordings from the SD card through the Spotlight app?

It is not possible to delete specific parts of a recording from the memory card. You can format the SD card to erase all data currently on it. We recommend backing up your data before formatting.

  • a. Go to Mobile Settings and select SIM Card & Mobile Networks
  • b. In case of dual SIMS, select the 4G data SIM
  • c. Select Access Point Names
  • d. Select the active APN (Access Point Name)
  • e. Scroll and click on APN Protocol
  • f. Select IPv4 from available options
  • g. Save the APN. (On some mobiles, this option is available at the top-right of the screen.)
