In 1897, the Godrej story began when our visionary founder, Ardeshir Godrej, introduced the first ‘Make in India’ unpickable lock. Ardeshir’s vision was to make India and its citizens self-reliant…a vision that continues to be at the core of everything at Godrej & Boyce. From designing and making ballot boxes to powering India’s first true tryst with democracy, Ardeshir Godrej and successive generations continued this tradition by manufacturing many firsts for the group and for the nation. This includes the first springless lock, the first safe that was patented in India, a domestic refrigerator, unbreakable steel almirahs, affordable typewriters, recycled concrete for infrastructure projects, life-saving vaccine refrigerators to insulin carriers and more. In this manner, the company has always stayed committed to its purpose to Pioneer progress for future generations.
2022 is a historic year. Godrej & Boyce is celebrating 125 years of being one of India’s most trusted brands- trusted by 600+ millions of Indians and more consumers across 5 continents. The Company continues to introduce new innovative solutions to market, that are not only sustainable and but also boost growth across its key B2B and B2C businesses. The focus will be on driving customer centricity and the spirit of entrepreneurship across businesses. Thus, striving towards the Company’s vision “To be Admired for sustainability practices, innovative solutions, and superior business performance.”

The Company marked this milestone with the launch of a new commemorative logo to mark the occasion that captures its efforts to not only be ‘forward-thinking’ in business but also to be at the ‘cutting edge’ of innovation and sustainability. Godrej & Boyce collaborated with graphic designer, Aniruddh Mehta from Studio Bigfat, to launch an identity that, honours the history of G&B while focusing on its future.
Godrej & Boyce has launched a book on its founders, Ardeshir and Pirojsha Godrej, with leading graphic novel experts, Amar Chitra Katha to showcase stories from its history to help inspire future generations with stories of courage, perseverance, nation building, agility, innovation and more.
Godrej & Boyce also launched a virtual tour of the Godrej Archives that uses AR and VR to provide visitors with a unique experience of Godrej’s 125 years rich legacy.
