INFORMATIVE Sir, Change is welcomed with red carpets in each and everyone’s life. We used to communicate by means of letters, then it came to conversation on telephones, then on cell phones, now on e-mail, chatting, net-meeting, web cameras, etc. We look for change everywhere, in domestic life, we bring about change in each and every room, just that we do not like to see any particular setting for too long a time. The magazine is very informative in terms of getting to know the happenings at our Vikhroli establishment, the synopsis of various meetings, which are held by the top management and which generally is not passed down to branches, except a few important things. We have recently introduced BaaN at Pune Branch and I liked the saying given by Mr P D Lam, that if you are swimming in the English Channel and you are three-quarters of the way across, the only alternative is to finish the crossing, because returning would be far more exhausting and painful and drowning is not a viable alternative. I have a suggestion to make for CHANGE: The cover page could have pictures of other family members also. Shanta Mohan, Pune Branch

OUTSTANDING Dear Mr. Kalwachia, Traditional Godrej News changed to CHANGE is a well-thought change and makes interesting reading apart from excellent presentation. It clearly shows how GODREJ adopted change with the times without changing our VALUES & LOYALTY to our customers both internal and external. Such outstanding magazines only help Brand Building and enhance the IMAGE of the Company. Kindly convey this message to the Editor, Mr. B.K. Karanjia, for moving cheese to all members of Godrej family. G.V. Sampat |

DON’T WANT TO LOOK YOUR AGE? Researchers have found that people who generally live longer, do so partly because of good habits. Here, Dr. Vernon Coleman and others provide some of the following good habits for longevity: Laugh and have fun, don’t be gloomy. Let bygones be bygones. Dwelling on the past inflicts unnecessary stress. Early to bed, early to rise, is healthy and wise. Stay lean, being just 30% overweight is bad. Keep learning, reading and socialising — an alert and active mind keeps your brain healthy. Keep working, doing something you like. Don’t retire. It slows down your body. Be the boss of your own life. Letting others push you around produces stress. Too many pills ruin your body. Take just what you need. Constantly alternating between weight gain and loss is bad. Exercise, quit smoking and eat less fatty foods. Do not worry about health or death, just get on with your life and enjoy it. Shanta Mohan, Pune Branch |

WISELY SAID "The poor Afghani people have been destroyed by everyone and we have responsibilities there. We created Osama bin Laden. We created most of the problems we have there, because at a certain point he was our freedom fighter. Now, he’s our terrorist... We are not wise about whom we make friends with. I think the US makes a lot of enemies, and you pay for that eventually."
